China seen from a different angle

China can inspire in different ways, China and Asia in general is fascinating more and more people not only want to learn language and culture, they are more interested to discover what China has to offer. It’s a mix of things, an enormous number of possibilities in arts, culture, traditional medicine, food…and many many more.

This days I came across the work of Jasper James, a UK photographer that lives between Beijing, London and New York, his work City silhouettes is a photographic montage of skylines from all over Asia, including Shenzhen.

His work is so inspiring, it seems as people are looking from a window down the big cities, but actually its a combination of two photos, one local citizen and a metropolitan city view. The purpose of presenting a city full of skyscrapers with human shadows makes the urban sense a bit more human and less dehumanized, individuals lost in a big city landscape.

Some more Shenzhen views…

One view of Tokyo…
